Cat Grooming at Deborah’s

Cat grooming at Deborah’s is completed in all cases without sedation. Cats are given priority in the salon, and are taken for appointments during one morning of each week when no dogs are present to minimise stress for them.

The following Cat grooming services are available at Deborah’s:

  • Ventral – The tummy and rear are clipped very short. It starts under the armpits, continues past the stomach area, the inside of the back legs and stops under the tail.
  • Lion Clip – All the fur is clipped except the head, feet and the tail. Please note that this clip can be in various lengths according to the owner’s preference. However the cat needs to be clipped very short if there are knots.
  • Cat Bathing Only – The cat is bathed and blow-dried.

Why groom your Cat?

Cats cannot groom themselves, they lick themselves. Licking does not remove mats, kill fleas, eliminate dandruff, deodorize, correct bad breath, kill germs, trim sharp nails, or clean up messes. If we licked ourselves all over, we wouldn’t be clean, we’d be covered in saliva!

Cats are naturally oily. Their skin produces oil that spreads throughout the coat if given enough time. Some cats are greasier than others and some become greasier with time, especially if they have certain health issues.

Knotted or Matted Cat Hair

Long haired, short haired, purebred and domestic Cats all get matted hair over time. While regular combing will help to prevent the mats, the best defence is a thorough degreasing bath and blow dry. This is where the professional cat groomer comes in. It is important to remember that sometimes the only way large mats can be removed, without having your pet go through considerable pain, is for the blade on the clipper to go under the mats. This results in the pet’s hair being as short as is necessary to facilitate removal of the mats.

Great cat groomer!  My Ginger cat looks fab with his lion cut! Much less hair around my house! Will definitely be maintaining this cut.
